The short version: we collect the minimum needed to run a news site, we do not sell your data, and you can ask us to show, correct, or delete what we hold.

This policy explains what personal data KSA.News collects when you use our website, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and the rights you have over it. KSA.News is operated from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and serves readers worldwide, including in the EU and UK. We aim to meet the stricter of the standards that apply to us — Saudi Arabia Personal Data Protection Law (Federal Decree-Law 45 of 2021) and the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

This page is a plain-language summary, not legal advice. If anything here is unclear, contact us and we will explain.

Who is responsible for your data

KSA.News is the controller of the personal data described here. For any privacy question or request, email info@ksa.news.

What we collect, and why

• Newsletter: if you subscribe, we store your email address, your language preference, and a record of your consent (date and the IP address it came from) so we can prove you opted in. We use it only to send the newsletter you signed up for.

• Account data: if you create an account, we store your name, email, and a hashed password. We never store passwords in clear text.

• Contact and tips: if you write to us, we keep your message and contact details to respond and, where relevant, to report.

• Analytics: we measure anonymous, aggregate traffic (page views, referrers, approximate country) to understand what readers find useful. Non-essential analytics and advertising scripts do not run until you consent.

• Necessary cookies: a small number of cookies are required for the site to work — session and login, security and anti-abuse, and the cookie that remembers your consent choice itself.

Cookies and consent

We do not set non-essential cookies — analytics or advertising — until you opt in, and rejecting them is as easy as accepting them. You can change your choice at any time. Necessary cookies (login, security, and your stored consent) are exempt because the site cannot function without them.

How long we keep it

• Unconfirmed newsletter sign-ups are deleted if not confirmed within 30 days.

• If you unsubscribe, we keep a minimal suppression record briefly to honour your opt-out, then purge it.

• Analytics data is retained only for a limited window and in aggregate.

• We do not keep personal data "forever" — each category has a defined lifespan, enforced automatically.

Where your data is stored

Reader personal data is stored on infrastructure located in the European Economic Area (Frankfurt, Germany). Where data is processed by service providers outside the EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

Your rights

Under the Saudi PDPL and the GDPR you can ask us to confirm what data we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to export it in a portable format, or to restrict or object to its use. To exercise any of these rights, email info@ksa.news. We verify your identity first and respond within 30 days.

Children

KSA.News is a general news publisher and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Data and our AI newsroom

Our AI tools work on editorial content, not on your personal data. We do not put reader or subscriber personal data into AI prompts. How AI is used in our reporting is documented in our AI content policy.

Changes

We will update this policy as the site grows. Material changes are flagged at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notified to subscribers.
